The 4th global conference of the UN One Planet network - 10YFP Sustainable Food Systems Programme, hosted by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Vietnam has just taken place from 24 to 27 April 2023 in Hanoi. The event brought together over 350 in-person and 1,000 participants with the aim to make a substantial contribution to the 2021 UN Food Systems Summit’s (UNFSS) follow-up process up to 2030.

The objectives of the conference were: 1) To present transformational actions, tools and initiatives to promote their uptake and upscaling in national and local policy-making processes; 2) To further promote the food systems approach and inclusive governance and collaboration at all levels; and 3) To provide a space for National Convenors, UNFSS coalitions and other relevant multi-actor initiatives as well as other food systems actors, to build capacities and deepen their collective efforts towards sustainable food systems pathways.

As one of the organizing committee members of the 4th Global Conference of the Sustainable Food Systems Programme, Rikolto helped organize session 4 of the main programme, four side-events, one learning journey to Chuc Son cooperative, and one social event for the members of the Advisory Committee.

The sustainable food systems approach is still relatively new in Vietnam and we hope that the Sustainable Food System Programme conference can provide some concrete example of how the government of Vietnam and other stakeholders can put it in practice in the country with partners such as Rikolto
